In Fall 2014 , a team comprised of River LA, Gehry Partners, OLIN and Geosyntec embarked on a journey to synthesize the vast array of existing data surrounding the Los Angeles River. Our goal was to build upon 25 years of work by creating a single, equitable framework for use in evaluating the river’s possibilities across all 51 miles..
The LA River Index is meant to be a shared resource by which to inspire, enhance and evaluate future work on the LA River. This website is intended to provide an update on our work with the public. It does not contain architectural designs, nor is it a media platform. Content should be viewed as a work in progress as we integrate final data sources as well as input from recent community Listening Sessions.
Our process has been inclusive from the start, incorporating the guidance of key stakeholders, elected officials, public agencies, technical peer groups, nonprofits, residents and other experts. We invite you to check back in the months ahead as content is finalized, and to share your thoughts with us via info@riverLA.org
