Bicycle and Pedestrian Paths

River LA seeks to connect all 51 miles of the Los Angeles River with a continuous bike path (Greenway 2020 program). The recent allocation of $425 million from Measure R will be used to both a) study the missing links in the Valley west of the Elysian Valley, and b) execute LA Metro’s feasibility plan from I-5 to Atlantic Avenue in Vernon.

The next set of goals should be to evaluate, improve, and increase the current access points, and to evaluate the location of primary bike routes running perpendicular to the river. As part of our outreach, we have been discussing mobility plans with each of the southern cities. Because all plans have not been completed, we have the opportunity to evaluate and create alignment between plans on either side of the river, and to focus on secondary crossings over the river (ones without freeway access to the I-710).
